We all are concerned about our privacy. Many sites track the user. So how we can be protected and without changing the browsing behavior completely? The answer is VPN.

The VPN (Virtual Private Network) is not a new technology. In 1996 an employee of Microsoft developed the PPTP (peer to peer tunneling protocol). The PPTP creates a secure Connection between Computer and Internet. VPN is not much different than this. Using VPN we can connect to different systems in one Private network through the internet. A VPN is created by establishing a virtual point-to-point connection through the use of dedicated connections, virtual tunneling protocols, or traffic encryption. A VPN available from the public Internet can provide some of the benefits of a wide area network (WAN). From a user perspective, the resources available within the private network can be accessed remotely.

Keeping privacy in your hands

While thinking of privacy ISP will be the first to see your browsing. They can track your usage and keep watch on you. They know which websites you visit and what you download they can see that all. In this kind of situation, the VPN comes in handy. Using VPN you will encrypt your connection between the VPN server and you and what your ISP will see is just one encrypted connection between you and VPN. The websites which you visit will now get the IP address of your VPN and will think that that is your original IP. This also makes VPN a great tool for bypassing the content blocking for several regions. Eg. if Government of some region blocks the YouTube or Facebook then you can use a VPN server of a different region to access the sites. VPN will protect you from being hacked or stealing data by a Hacker because the connection is fully encrypted. ####Using VPN doesn't make you completely anonymous When you use VPN it just tunnels your data packets from VPN server. The VPN provider that you are using is also logging your usage so if you did something inappropriate they can catch you. There are few VPN providers which promises to not to log your connection.

Options we have for VPN providers

There are many free and paid options available for VPN service. Free services are not great always, they log your behavior, can sell your browsing data, Encryption can be weak and Speed will be slow. While paid services have so many quality features for their users and also has options for selecting different locations. You can also create your own VPN server using OpenVPN perhaps that tutorial will be on this blog very soon. Stay connected with my blog and have an awesome day!!
